Spring Extravaganza coming up!!! June 8th and 9th Friday and Saturday 9-4

I hope you all are making plans to be here next weekend. June 8 and 9 Friday and Saturday 9-4 . I think you will be pleasantly surprised. First of all.... we have great vendors with the coolest stuff. Trust me, I saw some of the pieces and things that will be here and knowing all off you, my loyal customers..... you will be pleasantly surprised. I am more excited about this event then ever! I personally have been working 24/7 for weeks getting ready .
When I am preparing for a show, everything else goes to pot. My nails are dirty with stain and paint.... I desperately need a pedicure, my hair is way to long, My hubby doesn't get fed very well, I lack sleep, but yet I'm pumped. But next week I plan on doing all the above and giving some much needed attention to my hubby!
This table and chairs is my favorite  piece for this show. I should just keep it!! but...No worries, I won't.

...
...
My beautiful Mom... and my dad. Missing her a lot these days. This is the first show that she is not here to help me. I always depended on her with the little details that I have no time for but need to be done. But really, I'm OK.  Knowing that one day.... I will see my Mom again is comforting and maybe we will get to decorate together in Heaven

Sorry I don't have a better picture of this but is is just to big to set up for the picture. But.... a queen size, cream distressed bed. It comes with a foot board and wooden side rails. Beautiful if I must say so myself

Just a small area of my work room.  I can't wait until the fun part and that is setting it all up.

I know this is tedious work Randall , but your help is appreciated! Thanks!!!

I love this little table and bench set for the kiddos!

And this is where it will all take place next Friday and Saturday June 8th and 9th 2012 .Imagine this filled up with beautiful pieces of furniture and accessories!

Just one of the pieces I was working on today....

And guess who came to spent a Saturday with me for a couple of hours? In spite of a busy day getting ready for the show next weekend..... I always have time for my Grand babies. Trevor and daddy. How can it be that my baby has his own baby???

This gal (Sondra) is becoming an excellent painter. She has an eye for color and what looks good on certain pieces. And I might I add.... following in her Mom's foot steps!

Sweet.... buffet or dresser. You choose...

I am giddy with excitement. I ask my self every year.... Why do I do this..... because it is a ton of work! But it is just way to much fun not to do it. Call me crazy.... but at least I have fun.

So here is a sneak peak of some of my vendors...

Shutters and Sand
Three friends put together decades of friendship, their creative energy, love of antiques and art, and tossed in a sprinkle of sand and a couple of seashells..... Shutters And Sand was born!
They have so much fun searching for unique and interesting items and turning them into beautiful pieces of art. They specialize is vintage furniture in need of an update with a little paint, decorative home goods including nautical frames, mermaids, garden chairs, decorative shutters, lighted wine bottles and other treasures from the sea. Our furniture includes dry sinks, dressers, beds, side tables, chairs, mirrors and much more...

Simply Amber Company

I am delighted to have a friend join us who is extremely talented and creative. Be sure to check out her web site!

Simply Amber Company started out of my passion and need to create. My goal is to use my talents to design beauty in lifestyle, fashion, and art. Whether I am painting on canvas, decorating my home, or designing some sort of trinket, my aim is for it to have good design, be pleasing to the eye, spark attention, and it almost always must, in some way, be practical… oh the conflict between the practical side of me and the creative!
Growing up, I’ve been surrounded by creativity and ambition. My parents, both entrepreneurs, were constantly tinkering, painting, building, and crafting. It is hard for me to remember a time that there wasn’t a new project or business happening. It is from my parent’s example that I’ve gained the drive and motivation to pursue my passion.
I am married to my best friend, Mike. He is my biggest support and encouragement. He keeps me calm and makes me laugh. He puts up with my endless projects, supplies, ideas, and stress (and he has a few gray hairs to prove it).
My inspiration comes in many forms and when I am inspired, I create. Some creations are still ideas in my head and others are half-done, something-or-others filling up closets and corners in my house. For those projects that I have finished, their completion is often short lived, for inevitably, (much to my husband’s dismay), I will completely undo, redo, or cover up everything I did because I now have a newly inspired project.
I am a wife, daughter, sister, and friend. I am a laugher, a giver, a candy-lover, and sale-shopper. I am imaginative. I am an idea person. I am a doer. I am an artist, designer, and crafter. I am a creator.

Savannah's House..... Is Back
The show doesn't go on unless Savannah's house is here :)
Savannah's House is run by two friends who both love painting vintage, thrifted finds. Suzy Bondoc has been painting furniture and re-purposing thrift finds for many years selling her goods through several small venues, including The Cottonwood House. Florence Deputy is fairly new to the painting scene, but surely not new to the thrill of searching and redoing furniture. Now, together they both encourage the other in trying new venues and ideas.
Just within the year they discovered Annie Sloan Chalk paint! Through avid blog following of Miss Mustard Seed, Suzy and Florence were introduced to a new, revolutionary paint created specifically for furniture. The paint offers a well worn European look that they both love! Through continued workshop and classroom instruction Savannah's house hopes to have continued success in this business venture.
Follow them on Facebook at Savannah's House and find our goods at Odds & Ends in Oxford, PA and at Consign-It Furniture in Kennet Square, PA!

Diane has never missed a show with me! You all love her and her stuff...and her prices are amazing!
Diane Albertson and her husband Ray previously owned a store in Avondale called "Isn't that Cute", and when you walk through her area you will know why they called the store that. You just cant help yourself. You'll pick up something and hear yourself say..."Isn't that Cute".
The gal is crazy about pretty dishes and loves anything with a cottage or Victorian look to it. You never know what she will bring to the show, but you can be guaranteed you'll be saying "Isn't that Cute" when you see it. She has already set aside some pretty glasses and dishes, and some unique furniture items...old chairs, benches, etc.
Be sure to stop by her area and as Diane would tell you-come back both days because there is no way she can bring everything the first day. So she will have lots of surprises for those of you who come back on Saturday.

An amazing day with Annie Sloan

I had the privilege to go to Leesburg, Va to meet Annie Sloan

Annie took the time to autograph and take our picture with her. Her kind warm spirit just makes ya feel right at home. Thanks Annie!

What a special treat to spend the day at Annie's work shop! I have been painting some pieces here and there with her paint but now that I have been to the work shop...... I will be using it for most of my pieces. She taught us how to layer and mix paint colors and the sky is the limit with color. Annie has a wealth of information when is comes to paint techniques and color and I can't wait to try them . Most of my pieces for my Spring Extravaganza in June will be with Annie's Chalk Paint.

Here's a real treat. I got to meet @Miss Mustard Seed. Love Love her blog and not many days go by that I don't read her blog. She's a ball of energy with way too much talent for one person to have. No fair..... I get inspired and motivated each time I read her blog. You will most certainly want to check her out if you haven't already.

Another Special treat was to meet Janet from @Empty Nest. I enjoy reading her blog and seeing her talent come out on her furniture and her sewing skills. She even let me interrupt her lunch for a picture. Thanks Janet!

One of the favorites part of my day was to ride the 2.5 hours in my truck with this sweet and talented gal Florence...... from @Savannah's House. I was invited as her guest for the day and I am honored and blessed that she asked me to go along. Thanks Flo!

Flo and her partner Suzy have been vendors at all my shows and events and they will be here in June as well. These gals are the best of the best with all the talent between them. We are also in the same Antique Mall together. Oxford Odds and Ends in Oxford, Pa. Come visit us there.

No Good by, Just .... so long Mom. I Love You!!

A Tribute to My Mom......

Love you Mom!

My Mom passed away on Saturday Dec 10, 2011
Hannah Smucker
Oh Mom.... I miss you so crazy much!!!
(I read this at her funeral)

My Mom’s favorite quote was:

“Every Day holds the Possibility of a Miracle!

That is the way My Mom her lived her life. She was always looking for yet another miracle....It became even more evident in her life the past seven years after she was diagnosed with her illness. She loved Jesus with all of her heart and had a deep faith in God!.

I have never met another woman that had an inner strength and determination to “Never Give Up” then my Mom. My Mom is the strongest and bravest lady I know! And her faith in God was strong!

That doesn’t mean she never got down and discouraged because she did. But… she chose not to stay there too long. She somehow managed to rise above her troubles and her faith in God and her determination always took her through.

Last Thursday when she was diagnosed with acute leukemia and she was told that this could very well take her life…. She simply smiled at her Doctor and said Ok but… I have a ticket for Florida in January and I still plan on going. When we left the Dr. Office and we were returning home, I said to her Mom? Are you fearful? And she said no Vern, I’m not! I believe at that point God was giving her a peace that passes all understanding that only God can give. I was reminded of the verse in

Psalms 56:3 and it says…

“But when I am afraid I put my trust in you. I Praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God so… Why should I be afraid?

Two days later mom made a turn for the worst. But several hours before she passed away… she still had a very strong will to live and she was not about to give up. Within the hour, we knew she was getting ready to pass on from this life. She was no longer able to speak. My dad and all us kids and most of the grandchildren were there singing and keeping a watchful eye on her. We were able to express our love for her and I also said Mom, Send me a sign when you see Jesus and when you finally get to hug my brother Nelson who passed away 36 years ago when he was the young age of 12. Maybe send me a butterfly or a dove or something to let me know it’s you! She squeezed my hand so tightly and I just betcha... she will see to it! Soon after that moment she raised her Arm to heaven and waived. She did this several times. Before this she was so weak there would have been no way for her to do that and keep it there for a length of time. As we ponder that moment… we believe she was possibly making her Grand entry in to Heaven and she was saying Good by to us! After that she went into a peaceful sleep and soon she very quietly left her body to meet Jesus!

I wrote a letter to my Mom the morning of her funeral......

Dear Mom... You were one classy lady, a real class act. I loved that about you!

"You were the Wind Beneath My Wings"

You taught me Mom to have that same strong faith in God that you had and I am forever grateful for that. You were my shopping buddy and my best friend. Now what....

You made the best Amish Roust and all 60 of us couldn't wait to get that first bite every Thanksgiving meal. You also taught us how to make it and we will carry on that special tradition. When ever we eat Roust from hear on out.... it will taste even better then ever and we will be sure to remember you with every bite.

Mom, I'll miss stopping by your house and seeing you with your computer on your lap checking your face book page and emails. You were so good with the computer for your age mom.

I will miss your contagious smile, your latest ideas in changing up your house. And oh.... how we would dream and scheme about anything.

It will be hard to go to Florida this winter with you not there.

Mom...... I will just plane down miss you!!!

And one more thing Mom.... You were always so concerned about Dad. Well, let me tell ya Mom..When you were slowly leaving us on Saturday afternoon, I gently whispered into your ear and I made a promise to you that we would take care of Dad. Well.... I think you would be quite proud of me Mom. Because you see, before we went to your viewing last night I cut the hairs growing out of his ears. and I also cut a few hairs growing on his upper lip.

Now.... I know you cut his toenails too.... but I do have limits!

So..... Mom and my best friend, I'm signing off for now. It's really not GOOD BY.....It's just

So Long for now..... Mom! See Ya Soon!

Love You Forever,

Vern

P. S... don't forget my sign......
